How To Optimize Your Website For Maximum Impact
Keyword Search Terms: It is vital that you optimize
your web site for relevant and targeted keyword search terms if you want
the major search engines to correctly index your web site and pages in
their databases.
How your web site is indexed will have a profound effect on how well
your site will rank in the search results. Therefore, it’s important
that you do your utmost to convey to the search engine robots what each
page on your web site is about and what keyword search terms
you want them ranked for.
By applying some simple on-page optimization techniques you can easily
rectify this. To help you get started, I have listed some techniques you
can use on your web site right now:
First, create a separate web page for each keyword search term you wish
to target.
Second, include your keyword in the page title tag and as close to the
start as possible. For example, if the keyword you’re targeting
is “dog leash training” then your title could read “Dog
Leash Training – Train Your Dog To Calmly Walk On Its Leash In Minutes”
Third, put your keyword in the keyword tag. If you are going to add more
than one keyword (and I recommend no more than three) be sure to put your
main keyword first.
Forth, optimize the description tag. As with the title tag place your
keyword search term at the start then followed by a brief description.
Fifth, on the actual page content itself; always include your main keyword
at the top of the page surrounded by the H1 tag. You could repeat the
text from the title tag here. If you find the format of the H1 tag doesn’t
fit with the layout of your page, simply use a class or style sheet to
reformat to your liking.
Sixth, include your keyword search terms at least twice in the first
few paragraphs, towards midway and again at the end. Plus, try to bold,
italics and underline your keyword search terms at least once throughout
the page.
